Usability case study of a Drupal website : From Cultuurweb To UiTinVlaanderen

AGConsult, the brilliant usability experts that worked on Drupal website UiT in Vlaanderen presented a case study on their experiences today on the Sigchi Belgium fall conference. I was the Drupal lead developer for this project and have posted a few times about this project on this blog.

Everyone interested in usability should have a look at this short presentation. You will notice that simple enhancements can make a huge difference. The site is a big hit! I am certain the great care for usability (and the choice for Drupal ;)) are some of the main reasons for this success.

Drupal 7 also has had high focus on usability. I'm sure it'll pay off here too.

Sit back and enjoy the show!

Drupal showcase on Fosdem 2009

I just come back from doing my Fosdem Drupal showcase of Uit In Vlaanderen, a cultural events website built on an API.

Now you can download my slides below.

What am I talking about?

  • Building an event site
  • Drupal site built on top of API (data not in Drupal)
  • Modules (contributed and custom)
  • Extending block visibility
  • Service attachments
  • Theming and performance tips

Especially the service attachments module part might interest you. A module that gathers videos, photos etc. related to nodes from youtube, flickr, wikipedia, ... All automatically. More on that soon.

Drupal Museum - A Drupal design gallery / site showcase

Who said Drupal designs were uggly? Tons of great Drupal designs are available. And right now a place is available that bundles all these to prove the disbelievers wrong.

Visit drupalmuseum.com to visit the Drupal Museum.

I know there's a few other sites available, like drupalsites.net (which I like), or even Dries' blog. But Drupal Museum focusses on design. Which was something not available until now.

I really hope it will collect a lot of good sites. It will help Drupal developer draw non-believers over the line to convert their site to Drupal.

Let me also say that I'm proud to have one of my sites listen in "the museum": kristinascoop.be.
